Authority in Religion (Pack of 10)
Jesus was given “all authority in heaven and earth” (Matthew 28:18; John 17:2; 1 Peter 3:22). The message that Jesus received from God the Father was given to the apostles and inspired writers of the New Testament (John 17:8).
To insure that the apostles never were wrong in their transmission of the Word, the Holy Spirit came to guide them into “all truth” (John 14:26; 16:13). They recorded all things needed in Christianity in the New Testament (2 Peter 1:3; Jude 1:3). Those who fail to accept this book reject the only message that could save them (Luke 10:16; 1 John 4:6).
Proper authority for religious teaching and practice is required for acceptance with God. Balaam had the right idea when he said, “If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the LORD, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the LORD saith, that will I speak” (Numbers 24:13). Jesus instructed His apostles to teach their converts “to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:20).
