Patriarchs and Prophets alike lived the plan but were never able to see it come to fruition. “Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently. . .Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify” (I Peter 1:10-12). We have the ability to look back and see it all unfold in its entirety. The Bible is more than a compilation of moral principles and wise sayings. Starting in Genesis and finishing in Revelation, it is about how God planned to save the world through Jesus. The book you hold in your hand seeks to simplify this message and show how every book of the Bible centers on the cross.
The Gospel was hidden in the Old Testament but now it would be revealed in the New Testament. The Adamic, Abrahamic, and Davidic Covenants would be fulfilled as the seed of Abraham and David are realized in Jesus. He comes to establish His Kingdom, sit on His Throne, and rule over the church of Christ. While the prophets could only wonder with amazement about what their Messianic message would look like, we are able to see it unfold in the New Testament and live in it today! “Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into” (I Peter 1:10–12).
