Old Testament Simplified
by Rob Whitacre
In “Old Testament Simplified,” Rob Whitacre goes through each book of the Old Testament giving a survey of its content, context, covenants, structure, key concepts, and review questions.
Hidden away in the midst of the Genesis narrative about Creation is a verse that too many pass over without understanding its deep and eternal meaning. Every book of the Bible refers to it and God’s plan of Redemption centers around it. “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel” (Genesis 3:15).
Patriarchs and Prophets alike lived the plan but were never able to see it come to fruition. “Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently. . .Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify” (I Peter 1:10-12). We have the ability to look back and see it all unfold in its entirety. The Bible is more than a compilation of moral principles and wise sayings. Starting in Genesis and finishing in Revelation, it is about how God planned to save the world through Jesus. The book you hold in your hand seeks to simplify this message and show how every book of the Bible centers on the cross.
